It Is Simply About The Gift Of Reading To A Child
That’s me at 11 months…
…imprisoned in plaster…
…trapped like that for a couple of years, every 6 months or so they would saw the cast off and put on a bigger, longer one that I would grow into.
But I was still trapped, put me down on the floor with a toy, come back an hour or so later and I’d still be there, many times with the toy just out of reach.
But let me tell you what changed my life…
…BOOKS!
Read to my Aunt Irma…who as early as 1954 earned a Master’s Degree in Nursing AND Education, the stories she read to me took me to places my body at the time could not.
Books to me took off the chains that bound me…
…even though to be honest Mother Goose stories tended to scare the hell out of me.
You Have To Understand This…
…a few minutes of your time with a book in your hand with a child sitting next to you could change their life forever.
You are not Mommy, you are not Daddy, you are not a stranger called Teacher, you as a GrandPa or GrandMa, Auntie or Unk, or whatever name that child calls you…transcends all other people in their lives.
You Are Special…
…you have the luxury of giving them your undivided attention.
You are Santa, The Easter Bunny and the Amazon delivery person all wrapped up in one, you bring to them a gift, and that gift is…you.
I want you to see the book Aunt Irma read to me when I was just 3 years old…
THREE YEARS OLD…
…she believed in jumping right into imagination and adventure.
Did I Understand What The Book Was About…
…who knows, but to be honest I’m not sure that was her goal in the first place. I don’t remember quotes or what she would read, I read the book myself when I was older and I can tell you even skimming through it now, I don’t remember much of it…
…but I do remember the story she told me, the guidance she was giving me even back then while she was reading this book to me…
…that with love and imagination all things in life are possible even for…
…Little Boys Encased In Plaster.
This website is dedicated to her.
It is our goal with this site to place in your hands the keys to a child’s imagination, the pathway to show them love, show them that all things are possible and to do so with words and pictures that I know will fire up the imagination we all have within no matter what our sex, our race, our creed.
Unlocking a child’s imagination early on will give them the escape key should later in life they find themselves…
…encased.

Oh BTW…in my heart I know that what Aunt Irma did, lead simply to these a few decades later, imagination sticks.
